Temple of Sinawava

$100.00

I had heard of the Zion Narrows long before I ever visited the park, but it was not until that first visit that I learned of the Temple of Sinawava. For those unfamiliar with this landmark in Zion National Park, the Temple of Sinawava is sort of the unofficial start of the canyon leading into the narrows. It is easily accessible and follows the Virgin River up into the slot canyons that draw countless hikers on an annual basis. While I did not hike the Narrows on this trip, my experience at the Temple of Sinawava left me without any regrets. In fact, it was one of the places in the park that I thought most embodied my favorite aspects of Zion: it’s distinct stone walls and the quality of the light as it reflected off of them. Hemmed in by the walls in the natural amphitheater created at Sinawava, I was able to spend a couple of hours admiring how these features mixed with the autumn foliage. I am sure the Narrows are worth the hike, and some day I will return and see them in their glory, but I must admit I look as much toward the return visit to this natural temple.

A part of my “One of Four” series, this photo was made with a Fuji 6x17 film camera. Sadly this camera is now out of commission and all proceeds via the sales of prints from this set will go to help getting this camera to the repair shop and back in action. Thank you!

This panoramic image is printed personally by me and measures approximately 12.5 inches by 40 inches.
